Atticus Taliesin
Fortín-Belle

Head Medic of the Crystal Oaths, Combat Medic Specialist

"Easier to stand on the sides and let everyone else be the hero, right? When they fall, though, that's when I'm there."

Atticus Taliesin Fortín-Belle
Hyur (Midlander)
Born - Dravanian Colonies, abandoned and raised in Ishgard.

Son of two prominent Sharlayan/Ishgardian researches, Atticus (but everyone except his parents calls him Talan) was set to always follow in their footsteps- researching, tearing through books and information like nothing else. With a natural attunement to most forms of healing magic, a large capacity to learn and process information, and the passion and drive of a young teenager ready to step out into the world, he was recruited at a young age to serve in the Ishgardian militia as a medic, both on-field in combat and off-field. The Calamity, however, had a different plan in mind, destroying a building being used as a medic ward in the middle of Ishgard, leaving naught but rubble and everyone in the building dead.Except for one, holding on through nothing but aetherical barriers and wards put on himself at the last possible moment. One last survivor retrieved from the ruins, a prodigy stripped of his sight.Instead, Talan focused on what he could do - healing. Developing his own medical techniques, footnotes, records and ways to keep them, Talan found himself a steady career doing exactly what he was before he lost his sight - tending to those who could no longer tend to themselves, whether it be as a recruited mercenary on the field or through a simple house call.Through his years of not being able to see, Talan picked up aethersight, slowly draining away his essence in order to continue using his talents as a medic - knowing that it would take him away sooner than he would've lived to had he kept himself fully blind. Running at only partial capacity now, taking care to not overexert himself unless he has to, Talan has found new company under the Crystal Oaths as the Head Medic after all of his wandering brought them under their roof.

Hooks

"You are aware that I can see right through you, yes?"

A pair of piercing white eyes are the only signal of what's left of Talan's sight. When the aethersight kicks in, they turn to a soft cyan and emit a faint glow, giving off a strong amount of aether as it burns rapidly. Aether is his only way of seeing and detecting things, unable to pick up fine details that others can normally make out, instead trading it for easily being able to read a person's aether state and makeup.
If there's something off about your aether, he's already made note of it a long time ago. Probably won't approach you about it, but he'll make note when he's pulling you off the ground.

"As much as I care about everyone, I'm a doctor first and foremost. The rough decisions are the most fun decisions."

Talan is a very casual man when he's not on duty. Sarcastic, always with some sort of remark or comeback especially with people who are close to him.
However, when it's time to take his job a bit seriously, he becomes a very different person. Commanding, sharp, and ready to tell you exactly what you need to know. He expects you to listen to him to, doctor's orders.

"Even if I hate everything they stand for, I still care deeply about my home."

Being raised halfway between Sharlayan and Ishgard, he certainly has strong feelings about the places. Don't get him started on it, especially over a glass or two, or you'll have your ear talked off for hours about his past, upbringing, family and his care for his home. Even if he'll sometimes pause and try not to bring up something that may be too painful for him to remember, he'll find a way to continue his stories - he's quite open, if you just want to learn something about him don't hesitate to ask.

"I could always use a bit of training. Stay sharp on my toes physically just as much as I have to mentally and aetherically."

Talan is a trained fighter in a couple of weapon styles, owed to his high capacity for learning skills and experience with other practices. He is always ready to spar, stand on by for practice fighting as a medic or as a competitor.

"Sounds like a fun adventure, and when you're on the floor with your arm cut clean off and your leg dislocated, I'm sure you'll want me there."

If there's any calling for a medic, Talan is always in. Talk to him! Do you need an extra set of hands? Do you just want to take him and sit him down at a bar? Go for it! Just walk up and talk to him, he craves the attention.

The Medical Record

Duskhardt, Ephraim

- I owe a lot to him, even if I don't care to tell him all the time, don't want to inflate his ego any more than it already is.
- Head of the company I work for, so of course I stay close with him, he hands me all my paychecks.
- Lets me live under his roof, so I can at least thank him for that one.
- Family isn't just blood. Sometimes it's one's actions that mean more than anything else. And I have him to thank for reminding me that.
- Glad these stay confidential, he'd cry if he saw that last one...

Colyoghi, Lilith

- Fashion advice, hairstyling, best friend of all time. Man, I really said I wouldn't let myself form close bonds with people again and then she had to go and fuck everything up, huh?
- If anything happened to her, I'd laser blast everyone and then myself. And that's not happening.
- note to self: stay on her good side. She is a MENACE when she is angry. And drunk. Angry drunk. Ugh.
- Always happy to see her whenever I can. Even if she is my bosses' sister.

Vrihith, Dilon

- Fashion advice 2: Electric Boogaloo, between her and Lily I have full faith that I am in good hands.
- Ex-wife (IT'S A BIT I SWEAR) but we're still on good terms I think. I think? I think.
- Way too funny for their own good. I swear to god I'm busting a lung one day.

Rider, James

- Written just to get Lily and Ephraim off my back about it.
